How much of your AI footprint could your plate make up for?
A year of your AI use
A year of what you eat
Each symbol = 5 kg CO2e
Water
Here, making up for AI use means your diet change saves as much carbon or water as your AI use costs. It does not undo local effects, such as strain on the grid or water supply near a data centre. The training share depends on how many prompts a model is assumed to serve, and the water figures for food are modelled with lower confidence.

Figures come from published studies, company statements and stated assumptions, all listed in the Sources tab. AI numbers are uncertain and shift as models and data centres change, so the ranges matter as much as the headline.
